Dragon Boating to Badminton

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Today (the sixth of August here, for those in the States) we left Beijing to try our hand at Dragon Boating. Although it was really a stunning loss on my team's part, we took it alright. Unfortunately, the other team constantly boasted about how great they were.. I suppose they were right, however.

Afterwards, we went into a gym that contained two badminton courts (among other things). I decided to play some since I haven't actually played badminton for about ten years. A new discovery: I'm decent at it, but I just can't serve. Oh, and I also accidentally tripped over a net pole.

Still, it was a great experience rowing the Dragon Boats and playing badminton with some new friends. As you can see in the picture, I was really into the game; sadly, the exhaustion took its toll and I didn't feel like eating much for lunch.

Cheers!

Sounds like the jet lag might be getting a little better. Keep hanging in there. Karen Wells DSA South Africa

Exhaustion would be a factor with the trip you are having. A shame that the winning team could not win with dignity, a quiet sense of pride. Another student's post said that they lost but with dignity and pride. What a shame we do not know how to win with dignity.

I love it that on a Discovery Adventure you are making discoveries about yourself. Wonderful.
